This ROTJ era artwork from early 1983 offers incredible insight into the work of LPK; the design team who in various iterations of the business oversaw the creation of most packaging from Kenner's 1977-85 Star Wars line.
It is a conceptual design piece, that was pitched to Kenner during creation of their 1983 program for the Army and Air Forces Exchange Services catalog that was to be released the same year.
All 65 figures from ROTJ are rendered here on the cover in pen and marker, the same way they were on all conceptual box designs and blister cards for the toys. LPK design elements including the ROTJ series and Kenner logos are affixed to the front, while other details were either hand drawn, or penned over the protective layer of plastic that holds it together.
The left hand interior page features more Star Wars product, including sell through pieces such as the original laser pistol, the updated ROTJ Play-Doh Jabba playset, and the Chewbacca Bandolier strap, Tri-pod laser cannon, Radar laser cannon, and the Vehicle Maintenance Energizer.
Kenner continually innovated to develop retail markets for their product, though the AAEFS program is to date the only known partner they developed printed material for.
There are also 8 more pages of conceptual artwork, for Kenner product including Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, Fast 111s etc.
