Collection: Star Wars First Shots

First shots were used primarily by Kenner's overseas vendors to confirm that a mold was ready for production prior to approval, and the engraving copyright and country of origin (which usually happened after approval was received). They are genuine production related prototypes, and the most accessible action figure related items collectors can own. 

Many vintage Star Wars first shots will feature 'unused' copyright and COO markings, final copyright and COO but alternate paint or even no paint; or unused plastic color combinations. This reflects both the dynamic nature of Kenner's roll out of product, and their constant search for cheaper tooling and production vendors. There was generally a rock solid pathway to production for all of Kenner's Star Wars toys. But often circumstances arose that meant something as unusual as a first shot with final dates dates can exist – the most famous of which, is the Rocket Firing Boba Fett. 

EP or Engineering Pilot figures are approval and quality control items from later in the production phase, and are discernible by the letters, numbers and text or other markings written on them. These are used by Kenner's different departments in a number of ways, and effectively constitute the very first production run of each toy or action figure. Without provable provenance and verifiable history, these cannot be graded.
